At the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, Real Madrid CF delivered a brutal statement in the UEFA Champions League, beating Manchester City F.C. 3-0 — with Federico Valverde producing a sensational hat-trick.
Madrid repeatedly punished City on the counter. Valverde opened the scoring after a long ball forward released him in behind, before doubling the lead when Vinícius Júnior slipped him through and he finished calmly into the corner.
But the third goal was pure theatre. The move built through Vinícius before the ball reached Brahim Díaz, who chipped a clever pass into the box. Valverde lifted the ball beautifully over City defender Guehi with his first touch, and before it could drop he smashed a perfect volley past Donnarumma. The finish was brilliant — but that flick to outplay the defender was the real magic.
By that point the Bernabéu was bouncing, and City looked stunned. For a moment it almost felt like Cristiano Ronaldo had secretly put on a Valverde mask and decided to relive his Champions League nights in Madrid.
