Ilia Topuria, a Georgian-Spanish mixed martial artist, has rapidly ascended the ranks of the UFC's featherweight division, earning a reputation for his striking prowess and finishing ability. In February 2024, at UFC 298, Topuria faced then-champion Alexander Volkanovski and secured a second-round knockout victory, ending Volkanovski's four-year reign and capturing the UFC Featherweight Championship.

Building on this momentum, Topuria defended his title against former champion Max Holloway in October 2024 at UFC 308. He achieved a third-round knockout, marking the first time Holloway had been stopped via strikes in his career.
